This morning the BC High students took an Irish cooking class, learning how to make Irish Scones. After jumping through the hoops of learning how to cook, the scones came out delicious, and were enjoyed with tea, jam and cream. Later we walked over to the natural history museum and saw lots of the amazing taxidermy animals, fishes, mammals and more displayed. This is sometimes called the Dead Zoo because of the variety on display. Afterwards we walked across the street to the Oscar Wilde statue and Merrion Square park. It was amazing to explore, walk around, and reflect.

The Gate Theatre - The Price |
On Thursday afternoon, after spending time in Merrion Square, we headed over to the National Art Gallery. The museum had some amazing pieces from renowned artists such as Monet, Van Gogh, and Picasso, but it also had some amazing Irish art. I particularly liked the art from Jack Yeats. There was a Caravaggio at the museum with a very interesting story: it had been on the dining room wall of a Jesuit Residence down the road from Belvedere for years before it was appraised, revealing its significance. After the museum, we went to have dinner at the Thunder Road Cafe in Temple Bar. It was an Irish take on an American dining experience. Full of motorcycles and statues of Native Americans, it was definitely interesting to see how the Irish interpreted certain parts of American Culture. After dinner, we went to the historic Gate Theater to watch The Price by Arthur Miller. The show was very well done, depicting the story of an American family going through some troubles. The actors were, for the most part, able to use quite authentic American accents. After the show, it was getting very late and we were picked up at the school. Another busy day in Dublin!
